6 CONTINENTS, 56 BROADCASTERS, 37 CITIES — AROUND THE WORLD IN A DAY
On November 7, 2015, 56 broadcasters in 37 cities on 6 continents will showcase the top destinations of their respective cities/countries on Twitter’s live streaming app Periscope over the course of 16 hours. These broadcasters will be ambassadors of Culture, Music, and Social Good — each broadcast is 15 minutes long.
Scope Day (@scopeday) will start at 5:30 a.m PST (2:30 p.m. UTC) in Paris, hop from city to city around the world, and end at 9:30 p.m. PST (4:30 a.m. UTC) in New York City. The hand off of broadcasts aka Pass The Scope on this global a scale will be a Periscope first.
Scope Day is officially being supported by Al Roker, an avid Periscope user best known for being the weather anchor on NBC’s Today. He will help market Scope Day through his social channels: Twitter (414k Followers), Facebook (115k Likes), and Instagram (149k Followers).
Katch, a service that provides frictionless cloud storage, simple sharing, and permanent links for livestreams, will be creating a custom page of all Scope Day videos at: katch.me/pages/scopeday
Scope Day is CULTURE: There will be private viewings exclusively for Scope Day of “la Sala delle Asse” by Leonardo da Vinci in Milan, the Nikola Tesla Museum in Belgrade, Serbia, and the Capitoline Forum and Capitoline in Rome.
Scope Day is MUSIC: 12 musicians will perform a Taylor Swift cover during their 15 minute broadcast. Scope Day has reserved a 15 minute slot for Taylor to broadcast for the very first time on Periscope. The #TaylorSwiftScope campaign will make Taylor aware of her invitation to perform. The Periscope account @TaylorSwiftTV has been created for her use. If Taylor accepts the invitation, she would be musician #13, her favorite number. A change.org petition has been started here: http://bit.ly/TaylorSwiftScope
Scope Day is SOCIAL GOOD: Scope Day is promoting Derek Cowan’s cause Help The Journey. Derek will be selecting 50 charities from 50 countries, traveling across six continents and giving those charities the attention they deserve. He will be sharing his journey through Periscope. Derek (@entrepreneurOAJ) will be scoping from Kathmandu, Nepal. https://www.helpthejourney.com
